The Dog Photographer
We were incredibly lucky that Andy Biggar, 'The Dog Photographer', agreed to come and hold a photography masterclass for SWD Rescue. Places for the day were filled very quickly and the nine eager participants met up with Andy and his photographer friend Mark on Sunday 25th May. After critiquing some photos provided by the participants Andy began the day with a whistle-stop tour of camera settings, particularly ISO, shutter speeds and aperture settings. Mark came in very useful as he found the necessary buttons and menus on the cameras for participants to manually change these settings themselves.
After lunch everyone had the opportunity to put theory into practice with Andy instructing the class as various dogs posed for portraits or cleared a jump for the action shots. He and Mark were available to advise and support as necessary whilst the class got close up and very muddy laying on the ground to get the best possible shot. The day ended with Andy demonstrating some post production techniques to bring out and enhance the photos taken that day.
Thanks to Andy's generosity we raised a magnificent £500 with this event. Everyone participating had a fantastic day and we are already planning another 'Masterclass' next year. Watch this space for details of dates and venues.
